jimbo11680 Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 I've got a temperature gauge that keeps rising and falling, never goes above normal, don't think its the stat as movement is too quick, after you have been running for a while it goes to normal and then without warning it's off again, any ideas please Quote
Andrew T Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 I had a similar problem on another car which turned out to be a failed voltage regulator in the instrument panel. In order to stop the instruments fluctuating with changes in voltage there was a regulator in the instrument panel that reduces the voltage to about 8 or 9 Volts to ensure a steady supply. Not sure if the Galaxy uses such a device though ? Quote
Guest MATT jr Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 sounds a bit like our current problem - the engine temp sensor is supposed to be at fault, but cant get to it! MJR Quote

johnb80 Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Does the fuel gauge fluctuate at the same time as the temp gauge ? Quote
shelbournes Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 the temperature sender is connected to the water thermostat on the right side of your engine...you can just about get your hand down to it and remove the Connection plug to it If you spray it with wd40 then it may get the connection back if the fault is there...I have had a simular fault where mine doesn't go up much until you hit traffic if the interior of your car is warming with the air coming in within 5/7 mins there there shouldn't be too much of a problem there...however if you have constant cold and then hot coming in the car through the vents then your thermostat isn't opening properlythis can lead to head gasket problems so be aware of that Is your car loosing water at all ...in the water expansion tank ..if not then don't worry Kind regards and I hope this is of helpshelbournes Quote
