Another Tyre Question

Could someone please tell me if there is any difference between a tyre saying reinforced and one saying extra load if they both have the same load index. Im sick to death of getting conflicting opinions from tyre dealers who only care if they sell you a tyre or not.

One dealer even told me that if i only carry 7 people now and again i SHOULD be ok with a lower index. I suppose that ok if i only get a blow out now and again (no smutty jokes please).

Any help would be great as im pulling what little hair ive got left out.... :D :16: ;)

No difference, it's just different manufacturers terminology. IIRC Michelin use Extra Load whereas Dunlop use Reinforced.

Ah i see. Am i right in thinking that the Gal needs a minimum of 95 load index or not as ive seen extra load but only 92 load index

Minimum of 94 i believe..92 is way to low!!

As an aside to this, Lancashire Plod had one of their fleet of Galaxy mobile speed camera cars displayed at our Village show, fitted with none reinforced tyres.

MMMMMM things are starting to make a bit more sense now. Glad to know that extra load and reinforced are the same thing. ;)

Yup...sure are...i have 2 reinforced and 2 heavy load on mine.tyre that has just been put on is a 97 load rating....coooooollllllllll

Well just had 2 new backs after 75K, always used Conti CH90 205/60/15 95H reinforced, now these have been replaced by Conti with Premium Contact 2, new pattern which are now known as extra load rather than reinforced.

 

Also had middle & rear exhaust boxes replaced
