Uk Ford Galaxy 1.9l Tdi Engine .vs.us. Vw Passat 1.9l Tdi Engine

Does anyone out there know and can tell me if there is a difference in mechanical components and performance of the VW 1.9 L engine found in my 1997 Ford Galaxy compared to the U.S. VW Passat/Golf 1.9L Tdi engine??I need to do some major overhauling to my engine and am looking at getting the parts from the US.Just would like some feedback before i make a decision.OR you guys know where i can get the parts in the UK.I need pistons ,rings ,conrod bearings,main bearings and thrust washers.

Cant see why there would be much difference? apart from the fact that TDI's are very rare on the roads! I have only seen three so far in the last 5 weeks! 1 Golf and 2 Bora's/Jetta's

the exchange is in your favour but wouldnt the shipping charges kill any savings made? there are a few places in the UK that can get spares from for your engine hit the VW sites and magazines

The A's are the US way of marking the different model of Golfs as in

A1 = Mk1, A2 = Mk2, A3 = Mk3 ....... etc IIRC they still use the same engine codes?
