Guest rambo Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 can anyone shed some light on why my car was idleing at 3,000 rpm when the air con was on today, as soon as i turned it off the revs returned to normal mk1 2.0 1996  cheers Quote
Guest 3.5bullet Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 Because of the extra load the AC puts on the engine the tick over rate is increased to cope with it! but why yours was running at 3000 RPM? does it do it all the time the AC's on or was it just a one off occurance? Quote
Guest rambo Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 i think (hope) it was a one off occurence, i have had the air con on only once before and it was ok, this was only the second time i have used it, only had the car 2 weeks  Quote
Guest rambo Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 turned on the air con again today and was still making the revs go up to 3,000 at idle ???it saves using the accelorator thoughthe air con switch pulls the car along nicely, now i have 2 cruise control switches DAM !!! ;) Quote
