can anyone shed some light on why my car was idleing at 3,000 rpm when the air con was on today, as soon as i turned it off the revs returned to normal mk1 2.0 1996 :angry:

Because of the extra load the AC puts on the engine the tick over rate is increased to cope with it! but why yours was running at 3000 RPM? does it do it all the time the AC's on or was it just a one off occurance?

i think (hope) it was a one off occurence, i have had the air con on only once before and it was ok, this was only the second time i have used it, only had the car 2 weeks :angry:

turned on the air con again today and was still making the revs go up to 3,000 at idle ???

it saves using the accelorator though

the air con switch pulls the car along nicely, now i have 2 cruise control switches DAM !!! ;)
