jkspoff Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 So, seeing as this is the Galaxy sight, has anyone ordered the new Galaxy yet ? or even an S-Max ? I can't afford one, but looking at the pics below, it looks like quite a leap forward from the current model, even though I like mine a lot. How long will it take for new Galaxy owners to start putting their new issues on here ! http://www.parkers.co.uk/choosing/carrevie...ry=Main%20image Quote

jkspoff Posted September 2, 2006 Author Report Posted September 2, 2006 There looks like even more things to go wrong on the new one after the warranty runs out ! I wonder if the dealers will be any more clued up on this one.......... Quote
seatkid Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 What will happen to this forum regarding MkIII Sharan/Alhambra owners when that comes along? Quote
Guest gooner52 Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006  that looks just bad as the ford pic what have they done  Quote
iainkirk Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 What will happen to this forum regarding MkIII Sharan/Alhambra owners when that comes along? Now that IS a van! I know they disguise new cars when testing, but why have they disguised it with the whole body shell from a van?? I can't see the sellotape anywhere... Can't see it outselling the Galaxy this time round either!! Quote
jkspoff Posted September 3, 2006 Author Report Posted September 3, 2006 It looks like SEAT will probably be moving away from the high driving position of a people carrier, and go for more of an estate type 7 seater effort. Big mistake if they do, as I don't believe this is what the European market wants, sales of MPVs, 4x4s and people carriers prove this. http://www.worldcarfans.com/spyphotos.cfm/...aran-spy-photos I'm sure in a few years when they've a good second hand market for the new Ford Galaxy we will all be trading in our old buckets and placing our problems on here with the new Galaxy mkIII. Guest gooner52 Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 i dont think the sales will be anywhere as good ,as the mkii`s if the pics are anything to go by!!! Quote
Guest MATT jr Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 iv seen the new galaxy, sat in it etc, and my two dislikes are... the very front side windows - they look dated and inhibit the viewthe seats dont fold flush into the floor, they "stick up a bit" might make loading a pig. otherwise i would deffo have one over the old model. - feels better quality and the doors seem "solid" - not test drove one yet (unlikely given my age!) but i like it. Guest gooner52 Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 i do like a few touches inside the car ie the handbrake ..and the chrome/silver bits inside and the techno of the new gal should be great but for looks ,,my mk2 looks a lot better then begs the next question how long before things snap off fall of not like the old cars, had a j reg 92 mr2 import ,sold it in may this year and was just as good as the day it was made so how long before it all goes tits up...... time will tell  Quote
anadin Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006  a chap by us has a new galaxy must admit i quite like it , interior looks great, not sure about the rear folding seats  think you will lose a bit of comfort, exterior - well it was time for a change, and i think it will grow on people , i bet its still the best drive in its class, time will tell Quote
Guest HairyPlateEater Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 Hopefully, for VW, the first pic linked here fo the new Sharan is HEAVILY disguised, or they're in real trouble! The second link i would reckon would be VWs equivalent to the C-Max or S-Max and not the new Sharan. Like already mentioned, the full size people carrier market is too boyant to miss out on completely. Quote
tim-spam Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 READ THE TEXT!!! The picture is NOT what the new Sharan will look like at all, but is just a mule based on a VW Caddy. This will be to test some of the under-the-skin components.By the way, I hope that they resist the temptation to go for sliding rear doors, and I hope they also resist the temptation to make it much bigger. jkspoff Posted September 4, 2006 Author Report Posted September 4, 2006 This was the photo I think he was referring to:http://www.worldcarfans.com/spyphotos.cfm/...aran-spy-photos Quote
johnb80 Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 Well I was going to order one, had it on trial for a day, couldn't get comfortable, crap choice of engines, no spare wheel (good idea! NOT) so I'm now looking at a TDi V6 Discovery or possibly a Merc. Ford have blown it on this one. Regards - J Quote
tim-spam Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 This was the photo I think he was referring to:http://www.worldcarfans.com/spyphotos.cfm/...aran-spy-photosFrom this picture, it is very hard to tell what size the car is - it could be (and almost certainly is) a full-sized MPV. Another example is, ironically, the new Galaxy - having seen one in the local Ford dealers, you would never guess that it is considerably longer than the current model - it actually looks a little smaller. Down to clever styling I think. Quote
Guest HairyPlateEater Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 Have to disagree. No chance there would be 3 rows of full size seats in there. Especially looking at the size of the window behind the C pillar. If you compare it to the dimensions of the S-Max rear windowand even more so the New Galaxy there is a huge difference in interior space. I reckon thats more a Passat "C-Max" so to speak Quote
Jeff Tipps Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 Delivery date for my New MK3 Galaxy confirmed as 15th Sept, have not seen any on the road yet. I had the choice of having a new MK2 but went for the MK3. I was originally interested in an SMAX but the lease price I was quoted for the SMAX was Quote
Guest gooner52 Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 hi jeff must let us know how you get on m8 think fords are dreaming a bit with 9000 they have gone 4 the breakaway here mind you,it work with the in house focus and look at how many of them on the road ive had 3 anyway good lick with the gal mkIII Quote
johnb80 Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 All of the motoring press reviews seem quite favourable of the MK3, but I have not seen any owner reviews yet. I will post an unbiased review after a few days. How on earth will you manage that  You can't possibly do an unbiased view when you've got the thing can you. I'll be interested in your 'slightly' biased comments though, hope you don't get a puncture on boxing day, your 'unbiased view' will certainly change then. I have only once had to call a tyre company out on boxing day (to a company car thank god) it was just short of Quote

I just hope it will be better than the new Galaxy, have a spare wheel and be a fitting replacement for the current Sharan / Alhambra / Galaxy. Can't see it outselling the Galaxy this time round either!!...but since around 2000, the Sharan has outsold the Galaxy. Alhambra sales have been consistently around half those of the Sharan, which is still significant enough for a new version to be considered. Quote
