Does anyone know how long the Inland Revenue keep PAYE records for? and is it possible to find out an individuals employment history? When they started work and for whom, for instance. Thanks in anticipation, Andy.

er just why are you needing this this sort of info?

Although my wife has worked for the same employer, full time and part time, since she left school in 1986 they now dont seem to be able to trace her being employed by them before 2002. Everyone in the small village where we live and work know that she has worked for them all her working life but "the computer says NO". They are trying the "last in, first out" approach to cut her hours so I was trying to find her record of tax payment etc. from when she started work. Andy.

Why don't you just ask the Inland Revenue?

I've spoken to the IR but they only keep records for 6 years. :D Andy.

has she kept wage slips???or bank statements if she gets paid that way?

Hi Marion, we've turned the house upside down but cant find any old wage slips and the bank will be our next port of call as I believe they have to keep records for many years.

Its a bit of a bxxxxxd when we've given them 45 years service between us. :D Andy.

vr ur rite there still asking me for dosh from 8-9 years ago

always made me laugh when you got the letter from them saying this is not a demand but plz could you contact us,so you do and guess what the reply is,if you dont pay ur committing an offence as the inland revenue now deals with it(or is it just for self employed people)

andy iirc corretley you might have to pay your bank to do a search for the old bank statements, but im sure the ni would be able to help coz they have to sort out how much youve paid in to get a full pension so THERE must be records held by them

Thanks for all the replies. I'll try the NI as several people have suggested. I think it's starting to dawn on the axxxxxxxs that they might have a fight on their hands as they have now 'remembered' paying my wife's maternity money in 1994. We have to be a bit careful as we live in a 'tied cottage' and they could make a lot of money out of if they rented it to the sort of people or companies that can afford the
