I've just been fixing a broken wire (red/yellow) in my passenger door to (hopefully) get my electric window working again. However, I made the foolish mistake of disconnecting the multi connector from the A-pillar. Is there a knack to getting it back in? the backend of the connector seems to just float inside the pillar, so I can't get any pressure on it to get the connector back in. Does it just push in or twist in? Any clues? Now none of my passenger door electrics work.... ! (Its a Mk 1 Sharan)

thanks in advance, Andy.

the outer ring should hold the socket in the pillar while pusing the plug in - it sounds like you have unscrewed this ring - have a look in the faq for dissembly/assembly of these plugs

Thanks all. Yes, the retaining ring came off, it seems. I didn't appreciate that the outer sleeve actually rotated around the plug. I just twisted it off by hand - presumably why the retaining ring came off. Will give it another go now I understand!

Guys, Cheers to you. I owe you a pint. Red/yellow wires both fixed, and both front windows now operating properly - and my wife now tells me I don't have to buy another car... (!!!).... phew...!

Sorry my searches didn't find this information on the site without your input, but I did try quite hard!

Cheers,

Andy.
