Guest Ian Posted March 16, 2003 Report Posted March 16, 2003 I have recently purchased a second hand (P reg) 2.8 GhiaX galaxy. I am trying to get my head around the Ford/VW input. Every thing on the vehicle works well apart from the remote key which when purchased had flat batteries. Now with replacement batteries fitted I come to try and get the relevant ECU to go into configure mode but after visiting two local Ford main dealers and trying there methods of ECU programming I am at a loss. The local VW dealer put the Galaxy on there diagnostics computer, at the advice of one of the Ford dealers who said they are more equiped at a VW dealership to do the tests. All results came back as fine and I was given yet another method of logging on the remote key. Has anyone had the same problem ? Does anyone know the correct logging on procedure ? Can anyone please help ? Quote
Guest Scott Posted March 16, 2003 Report Posted March 16, 2003 Has anyone had the same problem ? About ten of us at the last count.Does anyone know the correct logging on procedure ? We've tried three or four 'official' methods. Can anyone please help ? Nothing has worked for mine yet - anyone else had any success? ~ Scott Quote
Guest Ian Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Have the people that are experiencing problems got Ford engined cars or VW. Probably not relevant but ? The VW dealer's method of ' key log on' was to have a key in the ignition at the same time as doing a similar unlock procedure as the Ford's unlock three times for 0.5s within 5 secs total. Quote
Guest Barrye Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 After many attempts I got the the 3 key turns to unlock followed by holding the lock button down and pressing the unlock 3 times to work. It is the 3 key turns that are the difficult bit - I had to try at least 6 to 8 times to get the door LED to go solid on. It is very sensitive on timing! My Galaxy is a 98 Ghia Tdi with RF remote.
