Stevie G Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 Hi, I have got an annoying rattle coming from the rear passenger door, it sounds like it is coming from the window as when the window is down a bit it seems to stop?? The only other thing I can think it is, is were the seatbelt is mounted for that seat just behind near the floor? I would appreciate any help on this. Thanks Stevie G Quote
Guest gooner52 Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 does it get worse at speed i had a bad sound from my drivers door, sounded like a rattle all it was .. was the door rubber where i had not put it back right what a nutter :D Quote
Guest blatters Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 Hi StevieG It could be the striker pin on the bodywork (wheel arch) that engages with the door lock when it closes. Sometimes they wear and become a little thin as a result. Then they start to rattle. With mine it started with the driver's door first, then the front passenger's. Rear doors have less use so it would be unusual if this was the first to go. Are you sure it is not coming from the striker pin of the driver's door. Anyway, all you have to do to check is wrap a couple of revolutions of insulation tape around the striker pin (not too much otherwise the door won't close smoothly). Shut the door and drive off. If there's no noise then voila. If the noise is still there then you can cross the striker pin option off of your list - that's the only way of doing it with rattles. All the best and stay sane - rattles are awful in the cabin. Regards Blatters Quote

There is nothing worse than having a rattle in the cabin, because all you do is listen out for it even more!! Thanks again Stevie G Quote
seatkid Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 I had this once. It was the seatbelt clasp rattling against a hard surface. Think it was the rear passenger one. There are clips provided to stow the belt in a rattle free position.... Quote
Guest blatters Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 Stevie G, Just thought of something else you can check. When you open the door you'll see some screws / bolts through the outer skin. You might want to check that these are reasonably tight. Sometimes they work loose. From memory I think you'll need a screwdriver and a socket set for all of them. Not difficult. They hold things tight such as the external handles to the door bodywork - there are no external screws. All the best and comiserations (if that's how it's spelt :D ) Blatters Quote

jkspoff Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 Just spent the last couple of hours trying to find a rattle on the front drivers side between the door and dashboard, its driving me mad as its quite loud and repetitive, anyone had a similar experience other than those rattles listed above as I still don't think its sorted properly, even taken to jamming stuff between plastic panels and driving off then stopping and repositioning them ! HELP I'm going insane ! :D The last time I had this type of rattle with a Vauxhall Vectra I could never find it, not even the dealer, so I sold it !! Quote
