Have a problem with my 2001 1.9 TDI Galaxy 115 bhp.

Occasionally the glow plug coil light flashes whilst the car is being driven. This is not a problem that happens every time though. More often than not the next time you start the ignition the coil light won't flash.

The car however races everytime you turn the ignition on, and generally the car drives rough.

Read on this forum that the glow plug flashing could be a sign that a light is out but have checked all lights and they are fine. (The coil light also continues to flash when the brake pedal is pressed).

It seems that the flashing coil light is related to the poor running of the car in some way.

I am sure the plugs don't need replacing as the car starts no problem and did do all last winter (as the flashing coil light issue was happening then as well)

Anyone got any idea what this could be? :D

Thanks :)

Sounds very much like you have an accelerator pedal sensor going faulty.

Easy repair just unplugs and can swapped from inside the vehicle.

as far as i know the glow plug flashing is a general engine mamagment warning light.

when my wifes alhambra had the same light flashing it meant that the brake switch was defective which had 2 effects:

1. no brake lights

2. crusie control would not activate.

i assume both of these ar eok with you car.

you may need to get it diagnosted via VAG-COm software, a laptop & a suitbale cable.

some-one [ non dealer ] near you may have such a setup.
