I posted previously about my C/L central locking and wondered if anyone had, or knew where to find, a diagnostic procedure(step by step if possible) for eliminating or tracking circuit faults on the central locking system. Also none of the 3 cigarette lighter sockets work either. I fixed a broken wire in the door boot for the passenger electric window (now fixed) but can't seem to find much info on the central locking or alarm system (if fitted??) that matches my Galaxy. I've looked at the fuses under the dash and in the engine compatrment and all seem okay. However none of the fuses seem to be for the central locking. Under passenger seat is bone dry and everything looks in order I think I need to circuit test some of the wires but I'm not sure how or where to start.

I would happily buy a step by step diagnostic procedure for the wiring if one existed and was cheeeep enough LOL! See sig for Gal details thanks

 Maybe some budding entreprenuer could make a step by step eBook on fixing Gals and sell it :16:

Someone might do that someday, when we've finished finding everything that goes wrong with them!!!

If you could find a member near you, it might be possible to try your C/L /Alarm box in their car, so you would at least know if it's working or not. Not all Gals are fitted with alarms, if the box has 3 connectors and you have the sensors on the B pillar, then you have the alarm, if your box only has 2 connectors then you don't have an alarm.

I have tried for many months to get a wiring diagram for the control box (I even asked the manufacturer) but Ford will not give permission to release it, it's a shame because if they did the control boxes could be fixed for pennies (as I am sure you are aware the total cost of components is about

the wiring diagram i have been using to sort my galaxy out, is in the back of the haynes book. its a bit basic, but it tells you wire colours, and there they go.

helped me out, and ended up finding out my relay by the main central locking box has failed.

I checked the box under the passenger seat and there are two sets of wires coming from it the plug in the left looking from the rear and the middle plug. The right hand plug is present with nothing in it. Does that mean there is no alarm fitted?

I'm in Inverness Scotland and don't know anyone else with a Gal, maybe someone on this board is up here :-)

I've got the Haynes manual but the central junction box diagram where the relays are is nothing like mine hence the problems identifying fuses, relays and wires etc

I am FAIRLY certain that if you only have the 2 connectors you don't have an alarm. Maybe someone else will put me right but I am also sure that the alarm was an option on anything but the Ghia, which had it as standard.

I can help you with the proper Ford wiring diagrams (if you want them) but they don't include a circuit map or component list for the control box.

I'll search the board about the alarm I seem to re-call someone mention how to identify it. I have a Ghia which suggest the alarm might be there. There's nothing obvious on the outside of the B pillars.

Yes please diagrams would help me a lot thanks can you post them here or do you need email

or alternativly open your bonnet and check if there is a bonnet switch ,mounted on a bracket ,at the rear of the passenger side bonnet hinge.

Don't have these on the B pillar and I don't think there is a switch at the bonnet hinge. There are a few wires at the hinge going into the bonnet through a rubber thingy. Maybe thats for the washers.

So it looks like I have no Alarm fitted. I can concentrate on the Central Locking now. I replaced the key batts and tried resetting usikng the procedures found in the forum but no joy. Next step I think is to try and track back the wires from the locks to the passenger seat.

Does anyone know which relays and fuses are for the central locking.

Also I forgot to mention that my 3 lighter/power sockets are not working one at front and 2 in back near the tailgate. What fuses / relays for these.
