johnb80 Posted October 13, 2003 Report Posted October 13, 2003 Hi,I ordered a new Galaxy about 4 weeks ago, 115 TDi/Auto/SatNav/Xenons. It was due for delivery last Friday (10/10/03), my dealer called and told me that they could not release the vehicle because Ford had recalled the Galaxys and furthermore the parts required were on back order with no set date for delivery. I telephoned Ford Customer Services and they knew nothing about any recall. Have any of you heard of any recall or indeed do you have any comments to make about exactly whats going on here ? I have told the dealer that I will not accept the car until they have shown me the recall documentation and I have closely inspected the work detailed in the documents. Regards - JB Quote

johnb80 Posted October 14, 2003 Author Report Posted October 14, 2003 Hi Carl,Thanks for the reply, my dealer said it was VERY urgent and a MAJOR safety problem and therefore would not release the vehicle. I thought they were messing me about and that maybe they'd damaged the car in some way and needed to make excuses for the late delivery, seems now that I'm wrong. I actually cancelled my order with them due to none delivery etc, within 2 hours a Galaxy arrived on my doorstep to use until they could deliver mine which was already registered, taxed etc. I have said I want a full copy of the recall work schedule so that I can inspect closely the work carried out, IF and only IF I'm 100% happy with the work will I then accept this vehicle. Guest Carl Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 Hi John, I Have since contacted Ford customer services who were unaware of the problem and most unhelpful, at the end of my call to them I said I would be contacting watchdog over the matter, I must have struck a nerve as one hour later I was contacted by the customer service manager from our local main dealer, who was very helpful and said he would phone back today to arrange for the car to be picked up, the recall work carried out and then returned to us the same day at my wifes place of work. The parts situation may be a problem but at least we have some action. Apart from this recall we are absolutly delighted with the car so lets hope they manage to sort this out fast. Carl Quote
NikNak Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 yep, got my call up papers yesterday (Tues), telling me that i could possibly have faulty wiring on my curtain airbags. strange how it took them months to fix a wiring fault due to one of the curtain airbags........!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
Guest Carl Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 The recall work [curtain airbags] was carried out today by Essex Ford Westcliff, the car was picked up by the dealer from my wife's work place the job done and the car returned with no problems. Must say I was impressed. Carl. Quote
