Reversing Light

Hi gang. Sorry this is nothing to do with a Gal but i need some help. The reversing light on the wifes pug 307 has packed up.

Changed bulb.....No good

New gearbox switch.... No good.

If i run a wire from the battery to the connection off the gearbox switch it will light up so that tells me the circuit to the bulb is ok. Seems like there may be a break in the power getting to the switch or does the switch only make and break the EARTH.

Any thoughts on this would be great as the French tin box is driving me mad.
