hi,am hopeing someone can help.i have a 1996 galaxy ghia 2.0l petrol.was fine last time i drove it,went to start it next morning,it fired up for about 2 seconds then died,done this twice and then stoped fireing.have checked loads of stuff and i think i narrowed it down to fuel pump but am not sure.took pipes off fuel pump and when ignition is turned on fuel pump works for a second spits a spoon full of fuel out then cuts out.does this evertime ignition is turned on.put live wire to pump which then ran continuous but burnet wire out in seconds :lol: ,do i defentlly need to put in a new pump or could it be something else?please help as wife is on my case as i drove it last :D ,need to sort out asap,thanks,boxman32.

hi,does anyone know of an auto electrition(who dont charge arm and leg/rip you off,but must know what they are doing).i had a problem with starting and went through the basics and put it down to fuel pump,having this problem with older car i thought i could solve problem but i was wrong and ended burning out some wires(about 8) :D behind stereo and at the back of the fuse box(relay 167).if only i had found this site before hand all i had to do was change relay 167,now i have to change relay 167 and find auto electrician to sort out my wiring.cant connect battery as this causes wires to smoke even more.DOES ANYONE KNOW OF SOMEONE THAT COULD SORT MY PROBLEM OUT,I AM IN THE KINGS LYNN AREA(NORFOLK).because it was all my fault wife is upset with me and i am in the dog house,bigtime.PLEASE HELP.i have now learnt new cars are nowhere near as easy to work on as an old car(too computerized!loads more WIRES :D MY CAR IS A 1996 GALAXY GHIA and i have had it for a couple of years and had no problems before,i love this car and am desperate to get it sorted,if car cant get sorted and i have to get rid of it am worried that wife will get rid of me :) .and i do love her so :o ONCE AGAIN,PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN.

Get rid of the missus, keep the Gal, it'll make you happier in the long run anyway! :D Unfortunately, I'm not in your area, but know a very good Auto Electrician in Liverpool if it's of any help ..... which it probably isn't! :(

had problem starting car,thought it was fuel pump,was also sugested relay 30,167,and various others.had a few machanics look at it,told me various things,"need fuel pump","need compleate wiring loom from front to back".wife was doing her nut at me cause i drove it last.had phoned various garages including ford who was all useless.finally after a week of talking to loads of people and people looking at car a friend told me "i know a man who might be able to help".he came and had a look,asked if i had a spare key,IT STARTED FIRST TIME! :) the light on the door(flashes when doors are locked)was flashing fast when ignition was turned on,he said straight away"key knackard".so if your car wont start and the light is flashing fast on the door first thing i suggest trying is use a different key.my wife is now happy and life is back to normall :) :D :)

Boxman32 i have merged all 3 of your threads that are to do with the same problem.If you have a problem try to keep all relevant info in the one thread rather than starting more, that way we can help you get to the bottom of any problems you may have quicker.. :)

I cant recall the flashing sequence - but I too have noted some sort of code in the door led fashing - If you can be bothered to plough through my threads you'll find the details. I rather suspect this is some sort of readable code, depending on the number of quick or slow flashes.This feature is used on some nissan micra's via a LED in the stereo :)

Sorry I didn't see this post earlier, as I had same problem, your description of the fault is 99% of time down to immobiliser with cut out after a second or two, i.e. key chip with incorrect code, or no chip at all, causing rapid flashing of the immobiliser light on the drivers door. It does show that most mechanics that you got to diagnose the problem don't know anything whatsoever about the Galaxy ! My local Ford dealer didn't even know what the flashing light was for !
