scrote Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 ANYONE GOT OR SEEN THE "POCKET MECHANIC" MANUAL BY PETER RUSSEK FOR THE SHARAN/ALHAMBRA ? THERES NO SERVICE MANUAL FOR THE 2000 + GALAXY ABOUT AND ALTHOUGH MY TIS IS HANDY THERES NO SERVICE GUIDE (UNLESS IVE MISSED SOMETHING) THE BOOK CLAIMS TO BE FOR TECH INFO, DIAGNOSTICS, TESTS AND SERVICE AND COVERS 1.9 TDI AND 2.8 FROM 2000 TO 2006 SCROTE Quote
Vanbursta Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 I have never seen the book, but the TIS has all you need manual wise. I think Microcat has the service schedules and items required built in and it can be printed as a seperate form, unfortunately mine doesn't quite go to 2000 but stops at 1999, of course if you can find someone who has a later version..... It also tells you in the service handbook that came with the car (or at least mine does) and I beleive there's a generic one in the Haynes manual. Failing that you might have a word with your friendly stealer. PS CAPS LOCK is considered to be "shouting" and can offend some people. Quote

Vanbursta Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 Here you go, complete service schedules and each printable with a tickbox for each item, and interim details all with spaces for notes and correctly formatted, just print em off and tick the boxes as you do the service(s) I did add them in order but for some reason they got posted out of order, but they are all there.15_000km_12_months.pdf30_000km_24_months.pdf45_000km_36_months.pdf60_000km_48_months.pdf75_000km_60_months.pdf90_000km_72_months.pdf105_000km_84_months.pdf120_000km_96_Months.pdf135_000km_108_Months.pdf150_000km_120_months.pdf165_000km_132_months.pdf180_000km_144_Months.pdfAt_72_Months_then_every_48_months_regardless_of_mileage.pdfEvery_24_Months_regardless_of_mileage.pdfEvery_48_Months_regardless_of_mileage.pdfEvery_144_Months_regardless_of_mileage.pdf Quote

Noel Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 Hi, I've been trying to download the service manuals in the post but am having a problem, i get an error page saying i dont have permission. Can someone tell me what is involved in servicing a Galaxy (1997 P Reg with 58,0000 on the clock). I used to tinker with my old Cortinas before i had company cars and am hoping that I can remember enough to save myself some of the Quote
mumof4 Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 it is because you are a trainee. top right of the thread you will see an options box, click on that then click download this topic. Hope this helps  Quote

Noel Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 Hi, I've just looked thro the pdfs for the 60,000 mile service and can see nothing out of the ordinary (no mention of belt changes). Why would the ford dealer tell me it was a major service that i needed?Just to recap 1997 P Reg V6 2.8ltr with 58,000 on the clock. Should i be looking at one of the other service intervals or was he pulling a fast one? Thanks,Noel. Quote
insider Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 Service intervals are not based just on mileage but also age, i.e. it is usually every 10,000 miles or 1 year (whichever is sooner).Your car is obviously a low mileage vehicle which means that you should have it serviced annually, not wait until the next mileage interval. When was the last time it had a major service? I believe the major service interval is every 40,000 miles or 4 years. Therefore, if it hasn't had a major service in the last 4 years then the dealer is right. It's also recommended that your brake fluid is changed every 2 years and that your coolant is changed every 4 years. However, don't let them tell you that your cam belt needs changing because you have timing chains on your engine! Quote
NikpV Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 usually work such as belt changing is a separate procedure from the 'major' service - the service includes things like the brake fluid change which makes it more than the standard service ...... as insider says though you have chain which should last at least to 120K I would have thought Quote
Noel Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 Thanks for the replys, I'm not sure when the last major service was as I only bought the Galaxy in August. I think i'll take a look at the 48month service and see whats involved in that and hopfully give it a try. Many thanks,Noel. PS dont be suprised if you see a post next week labeled "HEEEEELLPPPP!!!" :D Quote
me0wp00 Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 HiIm trying to download the service interval but it says I dont have permission, tried the options but I can read the posts but not get the pdfs. I've got a 2006 (old style) FORD GALAXY 1.9 TDI 130 with 40,000km's on it and am wondering what I need doing for the service and when the cambelt will need doing. Am in france and you have to tell the dealers what you want changing they dont just *service it*.thanks in advance Quote
NikpV Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 you probably need 3 posts to download - reply to this and try again Quote
Sanctus Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 (edited) Totally agree. A great guide. I've been searching for something like this for a while. P.S. Even if I posted this to get an access to evaluate the guide, I doublepost to confirm that it was really good. I will show that to my "general garagist" (for him to see how much time that has to take  Edited April 21, 2008 by Sanctus Quote
