Guest mjb Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 Having discovered this site yesterday I've been trolling through it like a fine tooth comb and found all sorts of interesting things. My main problem is that my courtesy lights will not go out and I have found that a few people have had that problem on here, but the thread has never come to a conclusion with a known fix! Mine stay on all the time unless I physically turn them off, but the central locking works fine still. I've learnt that the control for this is under the front passenger seat, and sure enough, under there are three boxes. One is like a metal square with 79 on it and looks like a relay; another is black and similar to the size of a portable CD player and has lots of numbers and the word 'alarm' (although I don't have one - or if I do I don't know about it!!); and the third looks like a little switching unit and is black and rests up against the gear lever side. So, which of these should I be looking at and what are the others? I'd appreciate any help. Oh, mine's a P reg 1996 2 ltr petrol model, in case you ask  Quote
Guest martinkerr Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 open door and set lights to the "door" setting,go through the fuse box and pull out 1 fuse at a time till the lights go off, once you find the right one leave it out for 10 -15 sec, replace it lock the car and with any luck the lights will work again Thats how i fixed my ones anyway good luck martin Quote
iainkirk Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 On my previous Galaxy (96P 2.8 V6 GLX silly vehicle), the lights stayed on because of the contact/switch on the tailgate. Maybe that's your problem? Quote
Guest mjb Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 Cheers guys, would you believe it was a dodgy connection on the near side passenger door! A piece had broken away and the door wasn't fully closing the switch. Inserted a small self tapper and all is know well  Quote
