Remote Central Locking

iv'e reasently picked up a 2.3 ghia w reg face lift model and the the remote locking does not work i've done the secqence in the hand book and taken it to my local ford dealer thay tryed a new key transmitter the key flashes but the door light does not flash it just stays on for the secqence then goes off has anyone got any ideas on what to do becouse the unit in the car is
