Remote Key Fob

The key that come with my 1996 gal has the buttons on it to lock and open the doors but it dont work the guy i brought it off said i dont know whats up with it, maybe its just the battery ?

 

but i still have my 3 button remote that is not attached to the keys, from my 1997 mk 2 mondeo can i programme the gal for that to work, as i brought that from e-bay and programmed it to the mondeo :wacko:

 

i will replace the battery/s in the gal keys to see if it is that, or maybe it just needs re-programming how is this done ??? :blink:

The mondeo fob is for a ford car whereas your galaxy is a VAG car, the systems are different im afraid.

1. Close all the vehicle doors.

 

2. Note:

Make sure the door lock cylinder is held in the unlock position for more than 0.5 seconds.

 

Insert the key into the driver door lock cylinder and turn the key from the rest position to the unlock position three times within five seconds.

 

3. The door lock light emitting diodes (LED)s will illuminate for 15 seconds during the remote transmitter programming mode, allowing the remote transmitter to be programmed.

 

4. Remove the key from the driver door lock cylinder

 

5. Aim the remote transmitter at the interior rear view mirror.

 

6. Press and hold the LOCK button on the remote transmitter.

 

7. While holding the LOCK button down, press the UNLOCK button three times on the remote transmitter.

 

8. Release both buttons simultaneously.

 

9. Make sure the door lock LEDs flash five times, confirming that the remote transmitter has been programmed.

 

10. After a remote transmitter has been successfully programmed, the GEM will reset the programming mode, allowing a further 15 seconds to program the next remote transmitter.

 

11. To program additional remote transmitters, repeat steps 5 to 8.

 

 

If this does not work due to you having the pre-97 gal,,,,miss out steps 1 to 4

do you have two keys one remote and one that looks standard...

 

if so try this

 

 

in the ignition put the standard key turn to stage 1

close the door and put the remote key in the door lock turn left once to lock then turn 3 times to the right the light should flash 3 times.....

 

when it does this remove it from the door hold down the top button and press the bottom button 3 times then release them both the led should come on and stay on wait for it to go out then open the door remove the key form the ignition and close the door and try to lcok it with the remote...fingers crossed this will work...mine did
