Hi there, new to the forum as we have recently bought a Galaxy 1.9tdi Ghia. Just put a set of 18" Decorsa Alloys on and would now like to lower it. I have already seen a set of G-Max springs which state a lowering of 50mm, just wanted to know if this will be okay with having 18's on?

Also does anyone know how many miles are left when the refuel light comes on? What is the average MPG for driving around town?

Thanks

Stevie G

Thanks for that mate.

Have you got a picture of your Galaxy?

Think I will go with the 50mm lowering G-Max springs then!

Those wheels were bought yesterday and can assure you they are 18's!

Hiya Stevie...welcome to the forum mate

mmmmm nice black gal :D

going to order the eibach pro kit for mine tomorrow...this gives a 35mm drop and was fitted to the alhambra/sharan sport models.... think i'll be going for a set of 18" rs6 replicas then...

Thanks for that mate!

I was thinking of going for the Eibach kit at 35mm drop, but judging by the gap that I have got at the minute (you could camp out under those arches!!) I thought the 50mm kit would be a better option?

I must say my photo does not do the wheels justice (they look like polo's!)

Does anyone know if you need to upgrade the shocks to drop it this much??

Cheers

Gmax (and Eibach) say you can run on OE dampers as long as they are in good condition so think u should be ok..I am still toying with the gmax set...don't want to loose too much ride quality though...is there much difference now you've got 18's instead if 16's?? Also...what offset are those rims?

Posted

Think I am going to go with the G-Max set!

No problem going from 16" to 18" does not affect the ride at all, if anything I would say the handling is improved.

The main difference obviously is that they are very easy on the eye compared to the standard Ford ones!

Thanks for the link mate, will be buying them from there me thinks!!

The offset on my wheels is 43.

Nice one mate...been told I need 45 offset rs6's cos the 35's will stick out too much!!

I think that price includes post and packing as well....might go for them over the eibachs myself!!

What a job we had finding some wheels with the right offset, all the ones we saw seemed to have an offset of 35 and we were told they would stick out too much as well!! Then we got lucky with those!

Thanks again for the link, I will be ordering the G-Max Springs tomorrow!

I will post a photo when lowering is done, would like to see yours when complete as well!

I can get the rs6's with 45 offset no trouble...but they want an extra 15 quid a rim!! Not alot you can do about it though !!!

Let u know which springs I've gone for once I've priced up the eibachs at the dealers tomorrow (I get a big fat discount so should get them for about a ton!)

Typical Ford dealer!! Doesn't recognise the number THEY gave me 8 months ago and cannot locate the kit on the parts system!! Don't suppose anyone knows or can confirm the FINIS number I've got?

Number they gave me is : 1132326

This is for the Eibach Pro Kit part number: E3574.140

Thanks in advance,

Mark

No way!!!! Cheeky so n so's...I feel partly responsible seems as it was me that gave you the link...

At least you've got your order confirmation with the correct price...they don't look like a mickey mouse operation so (fingers crossed!) you'll get your money back...

Think you're right about the wheels....don't think I can have them sitting there waiting for the eibach's so they're gonna go on on Wednesday...I'll stick a couple of pics on then...

Keep me posted about your overcharge...
