I have a problem with the temperature guage which keeps going into the red. The garage could find no reason for it. We have had the sender replaced but that hasn't done it. The only way to prevent it going into the red is to put the heating on!!!! HELP!

I pressume it is a petrol engined Mondeo, as you havent given too much detail I had exactly this fault with a 2.0 zetec and the fault was a sticking thermostat, replacement is easy and it restores the cooling system instantly.

I have had it also where the head had become porous but that also pressurised the expansion tank and caused huge water evacuation through the pressure cap. So it sounds more like a thermostat in your case.

I'm sorry, but if your garage didn't think to check the thermostat maybe you should go elsewhere....

Hi guys i have a similar problem with my ST24, it starts fine, and with in 5 - 10 mins the temp gauge starts to go up and eventually ends up in the red line. When it first happened, i thought that it was lack of coolant (it looked low), so i opened up the reservoir and all the water/coolant bubbled back into the reservoir. also another thing, the radiator fans on the front dont seem to work, according to the manual the glow plug is only replaceable by a ford dealer. I was thinking shall i get this overheating problem sorted out too by the ford dealer anlong with the glow plug?

I have never bled the cooling system in my car, can someone tell me how to bleed the cooling system.

Many thanks in advance
