Guest HairyPlateEater Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 can't speak for the mk2 but my mk1 has the vacuum pump located behind the passenger side indicator lamp in the wing. Quote
Guest bigal Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 Hi opifi Mine is an auto also 2001. Mine is located in between the outer and inner wing behind the n/s headlight (right side looking from the front of the car). You have to reach in for it but it should be there. Hope this helps, I'm fitting new pump tomorrow so fingers crossed. Welcome to forum :D Quote
opifi Posted August 16, 2006 Author Report Posted August 16, 2006 thanks to the guys who replied -had another look this time took wheel arch liner right out and guess what ! found it and the pipe is totally perished will get new tommorrow and let you know, cheers gents. Quote
Guest bigal Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 I would also take out pump and check for water inside, if it has empty it out and check for corrosion ( if not too bad you should be able to clean it up). If it is really corroded i would get a new one, its Quote
chazhead Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 By the way i tried Ford for new piece of pipe but no joy (I just cut off the perished bit), you might be luckier, I think someone posted they got some from Halfords. Just replaced mine, took perished pipe to local motor factors and asked for some vacum pipe the same diameter but 2" longer, not only did they have exactly what I wanted but it only cost 20p Quote
opifi Posted August 17, 2006 Author Report Posted August 17, 2006 got some clear pvc tube 5mm id by 12mm od (totally over the top but it`ll never wear out ) checked pump looks like i`m lucky it looked perfect, anyway cruise is back and working great ,thanks a lot guys superb. :D :D :D Quote
