can't speak for the mk2 but my mk1 has the vacuum pump located behind the passenger side indicator lamp in the wing.

Hi opifi

Mine is an auto also 2001. Mine is located in between the outer and inner wing behind the n/s headlight (right side looking from the front of the car).

You have to reach in for it but it should be there.

Hope this helps, I'm fitting new pump tomorrow so fingers crossed.

Welcome to forum :D

I would also take out pump and check for water inside, if it has empty it out and check for corrosion ( if not too bad you should be able to clean it up). If it is really corroded i would get a new one, its

By the way i tried Ford for new piece of pipe but no joy (I just cut off the perished bit), you might be luckier, I think someone posted they got some from Halfords.

Just replaced mine, took perished pipe to local motor factors and asked for some vacum pipe the same diameter but 2" longer, not only did they have exactly what I wanted but it only cost 20p
