Andrew T Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 I'm not, but I wish I was - it looks spectacular. A few weeks ago I realised a small ambition by driving a 1902 Burrell Traction Engine. I say driving, but all I did was try to steer it in a straight line (difficult) while the owner controlled the regulator and brakes and stoked the boiler. I can't remember the last time I had to cconcentrate as hard (certainly not at work). Rack and pinion steering ? try 20 feet of chain wrapped around a drum and 30 turns of the wheel from lock to lock. Quote
Vince Posted August 16, 2006 Author Report Posted August 16, 2006 We are into minature steam locomotives. We have one built and one work in progress. The work in progress model is going to be on display in the model tent, so we get the week at the show for exhibiting. A great uncle got me interested in minature steam, and the wife loves shoveling coal too! How many boys don't want to drive a steam train? Vince. :D Quote
