Not The Usual Wet Footwell Question?

Hi

 

Have read all the posts about the wet footwells.

 

Mine turned out to be blocked drain channels as the drivers side had approximately 1.5 litres of water sitting in the void space below the scuttle panel! Just putting my hand into the area (after moving the wipers to a mid screen position) allowed the water to freely flow out.

 

I then used the curtain wire in the other side which produced a smaller quantity......but bear in mind about 1 litre poured into the footwell yesterday while we were travelling and it was raining.

 

So all being well we should be OK (thanks to the advice from here)

 

However I have noticed two holes which I remember seeing a post about but don`t know the answer.

 

On the drivers side some aluminium tape was placed over the large hole BUT IT DIDNT BLOCK THE HOLE OFF!

 

On the passenger side a wire holder was in the hole.

 

Do both holes lead trhough to OUTSIDE the car, or do they end up under the dashboard somewhere?

 

I`m tempted to block both up properly in any case but really would like to know?

I haven't seen these holes in our galaxy, but haven't really looked that hard before.

Will have a look at our tonight........

I suspect that they should be blanked off!!!!

Have you tried putting the curtain wire down them and see where the wire emerges.

You might have to remove or loosen the wheelarch liner to see if they come out there???

Or they might go into the dash somewhere???

 

Let us know what you find???

we don't have the first hole at all but we do have a foam rubber block wich fill the gap between the rubber seal and the side of the compartment which seems to be missing/half there in your picture

 

 

would help to know model/year of car put the details in your signature (click on the link in mine for details)

I think there should be some "metal tape" over them which is painted body coloured...thats why you don`t notice them I guess?

 

Tried the curtain wire but didn`t see it exit anywhere......I highly suspect that it comes out insdie the car....so the one with the wire holder in (small hole) is suspect for letting water in as its just a friction type fit in the hole!!!!

That may be because yours is later than ours.

 

Just spotted the "signature" bit......thought I had done it but it appears that I did the profile bit only :D
