Vince Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 Hi, I added towing sockets to my 97 gal a few years ago. I didn't know there was a plug ready and waiting! Where is that then? As to the fridge/charging, I would expect these to be seperate. Fridge live all the time, charging only live when the engine is running. I ran a cable from the alternator so I knew when the engine was running, and put a relay between that and the live feed for the power outlet sockets in the rear. The alternator feed just runs the coil of the relay, and it connects the perm live to the charge circuit, so in a way, yes they are joined, but only when the engine's running. Vince. Quote
AndeeeH Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 The plug for the trailer wiring on Mk1's is inside the right hand jack compartment, tucked down by the back of the rear lights. I dont think the Mk2's had one. The correct wiring for the black plug is:Pin 1 yellow- LH indicatorPin 2 Blue- rear fog lampPin 3 White- Earth returnPin 4 Green- RH indicatorPin 5 Brown- RH tail and no. plate lightPin 6 Red- Brake lightsPin 7 Black- LH tail and no. plate light. The correct wiring for the grey plug will depend on the age of your caravan as since 2000 the wiring in caravans has been altered to prevent the fridge running down the car battery when the engine is not running.Pin 1 Yellow- Reversing lamps (if fitted)Pin 2 Blue- Battery charging (pre 2000)Pin 3 White- Earth return for pins 2&4Pin 4 Green- Power supplyPin 5 Brown- SparePin 6 Red- FridgePin 7 Black- Earth return for pin 6 On post 2000 fittings Green is live with the ignition and Red is only live with the engine running. ;) Andy.
