Guest Sharan Sharon Posted August 12, 2006 Report Posted August 12, 2006 Hi guys n gals. Really pleased I found this place for some decent info on the Galaxy and its variants. Does anyone have any figures on which of the maufacturers 3 different models has proven to be most reliable? Out of interest there seem to be a lot more Gals around than Sharan's and the Alhambra's are virtually non-existant (and seem almost the most pricey! - strange for what should be the cheapest option?). I am looking ideally for a diesel, definitely automatic and a Mk2 shape model around an 01/02 model. Thanks in advance. Quote
strouf Posted August 12, 2006 Report Posted August 12, 2006 Hi ! Diesels use the excact same motors. and body differenses are only minor. So I'd say that all three brands are the same ....Seat are a liitle more expensine ,as they come with ESP as standard (MK2). They are all made in Portugal , in the same production line. In Greece , where I live, Seat staff are more helpfull and their parts prices are lower. (..Well, I don't let them know that my car is a Galaxy). Finaly Sharans would be easier to sell ! i Quote

MrT Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 My 2001 Galaxy has ESP as standard. Quote
Andrew T Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 On the Galaxy ESP was standard on the VR6 MK2 and was optional on 115 and 130 Diesels (Manual only) as part of the Technology Pack (i.e Xenon Headlamps with Washers and Emergency Brake assist). It may have been standard on the 150 Diesel, but as Ford did not include it in the Brochure or Website, who knows? Returning to the OPs original question of comparative reliability, as the same components are used in all the problem areas there should be no difference between Variants, with the exception of the Petrol engine models where Ford used their own 2.3 and VW and SEAT their 2.0 and 1.8Turbo. The slight differences between the Marques in reliability surveys is probably due to the differences between their dealers. Quote
