Guest Sazere Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 Recently purchased 2004 Galaxy 1.9TDi, went out the other day and water started pouring from middle top of passenger footwell. Having read through this forum I noticed several threads about water leaking into footwell, so tried to follow the advice of looking for the drains to see if they were blocked. However, upon looking into the engine compartment (with passenger door open) noticed a circle of light at the rear on the passenger side. Hubby looked under the dash inside the car and found a circular hole where he could stick his fingers in and wave to me whilst I looked under the bonnet! Is this normal? Should there be a bung or something blocking this hole? Strange thing is that we have just had the galaxy in the 'Ford' garage today to have a new carpet fitted and asked them to investigate the leak. Ford said couldn't immediately spot anything so would need to keep the galaxy for a couple of days to investigate? Does this mean the technicians are blind :35: or have they not even bothered to look? :P Help, please... Quote
mumof4 Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 Hi..sorry to hear about your prob..i havent suffered from this prob as of yet(..touch wood.)so im afraid cant help you there..but i guess that it should be bunged up Going to Fords is like watching the three stooges :P :35: Ps.welcome to the forum. :P Quote
Dave-G Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 There should be a grommet in that hole - but it's doubtfull that its the source of the leak... as there would not be any water in that area to leak in. Does your rear window washer work first as a starting point? if not, do a search for "rear washer" A 2004 model is unlikely to have blocked scuttle drains, but search that too if the washer works ok. Guest Sazere Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 Thanks for the welcome!! I've checked the rear wash wipe and seems to be working just fine. Squirts OK and washes OK. The only thing I suddenly thought of was that we did wash the engine compartment at the weekend when we washed the car so maybe some water was sitting inside still and came out through the hole into the footwell? The leak started after we had drove into town (5 miles approx) and stopped to park, water suddenly started pouring down and created a hand sized puddle on the mat. It stopped when we drove off. Since then we have not had another leak. So, off to Ford to ask the question if we should have a bung thingy? No doubt more expense! Quote
Dave-G Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 Washing the engine compartment would certainly do that, dont worry - the grommet wont require a remortgage. Quote
