marinabrid Posted August 9, 2006 Report Posted August 9, 2006 hi all not toad before and am getting ready !have backed the gal up to the caravan and i seem to able to see ok down each side thanks to the extra width of the gal, however someone told me that you had to have 2 towing mirrors by law, im sure one of you expert towers will know , thanks Quote
adrianf. Posted August 9, 2006 Report Posted August 9, 2006 I think you only have to have one fitted to the drivers side as far as i know. I tow a caravan with my Gal and have no mirrors fitted as like you i can see ok but not sure how the law would like it. Quote
Grumpy Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 As far as I am aware, you dont need extended mirrors if you can see down the side of the trailer. I do use a pair of strap on mirrors when towing my caravan as it gives me much more visability behind (albeit they wobble around like crazy sometines!) especially when I want to pull out to overtake and then pull in again. I would recomend fitting a pair. Quote
jwilliams Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 I am part of a diving club which has a boat we tow. One of our guys was pulled by the police as the passenger side one had broken, he was towing using an L200 pickup which also has big mirrors like the gal. He was told at the roadside he must have both! Aonther of our guys got into bother towing with a Zafira as he had no additional mirrors fitted. Only ticking offs at the roadside no points luckily Quote
latrine Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 Hi the Gal is a great car to tow with, and the mirrors are quite adequate However, i'm quite sure that it's not sufficiently wide enough, legally, to tow without mirrors I bought the cheapest pair i could find - about Quote
