Guest bluearmy Posted August 9, 2006 Report Posted August 9, 2006 My 1.9TDI at tick over and around town behaves normally, temperature wise, always at 90deg. When you take it down the motorway etc. at speeds of over 70 m.p.h. the coolant temp gradually begins to rise up to the warning light coming on, 130deg. I slow down and the temp returns to normal. It uses no coolant and hardly any oil. Its got me stumped. I`m about to take it in to the garage and don`t want to get ripped off with a load of waffle, so any pointers would be useful. Quote
Guest neil_wiles Posted August 9, 2006 Report Posted August 9, 2006 That is a classic thermostat problem give it a quick swap and it should be fine, either that or your radiator core is blocked. I would go for the stat as the engines on the 1.9 TDi are so efficient at normal speeds that they have to have an aux heater to keep the engine at the right temperature at normal revs. Quote
MatTdi Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 BlueArmy,You didnt say if yours is a PD or not.
