Auto Gearbox Prob

Hi,

I have just brought a 1996 galaxy 2.0 auto...now the gearbox is in get home mode...i.e in 3rd i can get 1st if i pull it down on the gear leaver and n,r without any probs..

 

I have checked the cables and they look fine..

 

Could there be anything else i sould be looking for ive seen somewhere that the maf sensor can cause probs with the box??

 

i need all the help i can..lol...

 

Also just a quickie dont know if it has anything to do with the problem..but i can pull it down out of park without my foot on the brake but the brake lights work fine..i cant hear the click that tends to go with the foot on the brake..

Hi, I had the same problem with my scorpio, I cleaned the MAF with Carb cleaner. On your second problem, thats normal. I had 4 auto's and I could do the same. On the autobox, I took my to a auto garage and he said the autobox was F***ed and I need a recon one at

Hi ..

 

Ok update time... i have had the fault codes looked at..it came back with the gear position sensor(gearbox range sensor) on the fault code...i have since changed the sensor and had the fault code cleared and it works fine in p,r,n as in it does all it should..then put it in d and nothing engine just rev's but nothing put it in a 1,2 or 3 the gearbox goes into safe mode...checked the cables all fine..

 

soooooooo im still looking for ideas :)
