Guest gotmiester Posted August 5, 2006 Report Posted August 5, 2006 Good`afternoon fellow forumers. I posted a topic a couple of weeks ago,the wipers on my W 2000 Galaxy 1.9 TDI Zetec were not working.Number one son got everything off, compeltely seized up.He got it all freed off and the wipers mechanism was working a treat.Tried it again with motor connected, dead a a dodo.Rechecked fuses, all ok.Ordered a recon motor on the internet, got it in the post today,it looks the same but there is an extra set of wires, how does this differ from the original and does the extra loom supply the power needed to start the motor. The motor shaft that connects to the wiper frame is also about 10mm longer to the splines, will this be a problem when fitting. When I ordered it I specifically mentioned it was for a 2000 model Galaxy, does anyone think that the recon belongs to a older or V.A.G model?. Cheers Gotmiester Quote
Andrew T Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 2000 was the changeover form the MK1 to the MK2 when the appearance of the panel in which the wipers are mounted changed. It could well be that the length of the motor spindle changed at this point. Quote
Guest gotmiester Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 Hello again forumers. Who suggested buying a Galaxy. The problem with the windscreenwipers is driving me to distraction.I checked the fuse,it was ok.One of the problems is that the owners quide that was with the vehicle says that the the wiper motor fuse is number 5.There is where it gets a bit confusing the fuse card that is in the fuse box cover says that it is fuse number 8,which we have checked and is okay.My feeling is that the fuse card is correct and the manual is one that a previous owner got from somewhere. We stipped everything off, freed the spindles and the nuts so they are moving freely.Got a recon motor (the one with the extra lead compared to the old one, have been told that the extra lead is for intermittent) Connected the motor nothing happening, should I hear something from the motor or should it all have to be put back before it will work.Sorry to seem liike a drongo but I,m just about up to changing a tyre. I have a bad feeling that I will have to take it to an auto electrician, can you hear the till ringing from here.I was hoping that one of you techies out there would be able to send me a magic sololution to this problem that is sending me and number one son crazy. Here's hoping Gotmiester Quote
