Battlebus Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 Hi, Does anyone else have this problem? On my Galaxy (03 plate) the rear windows open themselves as the winder handles, when the window is fully closed sit in an upright position. SO when driving the winder handles do that gravity thing and move down and voila slightly open window with annoying wind noise. Matt Quote
Masked Marauder Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 No. Your car is haunted. Well, yes mine do a little, not far, but enough to increase the noise in the car to an irritating level. Quote
tiny Posted August 5, 2006 Report Posted August 5, 2006 Would removing the handles when in the full closed position and refitting them so that they are pointing downwards help?(or even just past the fully vertical position so that gravity on the handle would be working in the direction to close the window not open it). Im presuming they are on a splined shaft. Or is it the weight of the huge window thats the problem? Quote
jwilliams Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 Have noticed a similar problem (and got a wet seat when washing the car as the window was slightly open) and noticed our 5 year old using the winder as a handle to help him climb out. Now routinely check the winder position after he is out until he grows longer legs. He only sits on one side and I have not found the problem on the other. Quote
mumof4 Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 Dont all Gals have electric windows then?I am gradually learning that not every gal has the toys that i do. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 No, mum, only the Ghia has electric rear windows (facelifted models anyway) Quote
DubDriver Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 My windows open themselves over time, but I suspect as previously mentioned it's not the handles. I suspect its the poor quality mechanism fitted just like the overall poor quality of the cars. Quote
mike99 Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 I found the kids using the handles as footrests! Quote

chauf4 Posted November 12, 2006 Report Posted November 12, 2006 I get exactly the same thing. First thought it was a passenger that had been messing about with the window and had not wound it back up properly, but it's been happening to often to have been that. Might be a "ford" problem cos i seem to remember it happening on and old escort or xr2 that i owned years ago. I recall that the handles, when wound up, were pointing upwards, so i took them off and replaced them in the downwards position. Trouble is i can't remember whether it solved the problem or not. delboyt Posted November 20, 2006 Report Posted November 20, 2006 DON'T PUT THE HANDLES IN THE DOWN POSITION AS THEY GET IN THE WAY FOR PASSENGERS LEGS. PUT THEM UN THE 10 PAST 12 POSITION THAT WAY THEY CAN WIND THEMSELVES UP & NOT GET IN THE WAY OF PASSENGERS KNEES. my window winds down a little but only the off side rear as it's most prob the position of the winder handle? sorry for the caps being on lol Quote
