sparky Paul Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 "No dont laugh" he says, "but a make called 'Linlong'... and they're W rated too". Asked if his pc on the desk was linked to the internet, said could i do a quick search using the above named web site. Help yourself says he, and found this..... http://www.tyretest.com/pkw_sommerreifen/l...l688/index.html (the lower the score the better..........) He went on to say that at the moment they were on special offer, and he would fit the 2 on the front for Quote
shepheap Posted August 28, 2006 Report Posted August 28, 2006 Just replaced the noisey Dunlop 2020s on the front of mine. Had intended to go via mytyres.co.uk for the Fortuna F2000 215/55 r16 XL at about Quote
Guest K Matters Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 Volume varies as cube of dimension, so 16/15 cubed = 1.21, so the 16" tyres should be 21% dearer than 15". I find they cost more than that. But the 15" ones on the old galaxy used to go out of shape after a while (Contis) so i hope the 16" on the new car will do better... Quote
tim-spam Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 I've recently replaced the Dunlops on mine with Nokian NRHi's from mytyres.com. I found the Dunlops noisy, fast wearing and with lousy traction and grip, especially in the wet. The Nokians are massively better - they grip almost as well in the wet as the Dunlops did in the dry. They are also much quieter and the ride is better. They are rated at treadware 320 against the Dunlops' 200, so should last at least 50% longer. On the tyretest website, they are rated as pretty much the best summer tyre around at the moment, and as they are also cheaper than the Dunlops (they are priced about half way between premium and budget at Quote
Guest HairyPlateEater Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 been hearing good things about the Nokians, so think I'll go for them next time. I got the "Star Performers" from mytyres and very impressed. road noise and wet & dry grip definately improved over the standard dunlops and directional so look good too! lol and at Quote
shepheap Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 I have just replaced my front Dunlops and rear Michelins for Fortuna F2000 215/55 r16 XL (asymetric) all round. Although they are at a good price on Mytyres you still need to add fitting costs (which would have been Quote
Davetheref Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 I rang my local Fomula 1 place in Stevenage and he had never heard of Fortunas. So asked what fitting costs would be if I got them and they quoted Quote
sparky Paul Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 Have noticed now though that mytyres have asymetrical Fortuna F2000s for a bit cheaper too. I know some people have Fortunas fited, just wondering if its the asymetrical ones they have? Yep, mine are assymetrical - tread pattern is exactly like the picture on mytyres. Davetheref Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 That sounds good. I did call them as well just to make sure that the tyres are reinforced and they assured me they are. I will be ordering them next week when I get paid and they do have them in stock. Quote
Davetheref Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 I feel totally stupid. Just going to order them now at work (because I noticed they dont debit your account until delivery) and I've gone a toatl blank on the exact size needed. I know I have 17" wheels with low profile tyres (was the exec pack on the Gal) but want to make sure on the actual size. I think they are 225\45 94v. does anyone knowif this is standard or could they be a lot of different sizes. I know i should have checked when parking at the station today but forgot. ;) Quote
Guest BagPuss Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 When I first bought our Galaxy back in March of this year, it needed a new tyre which then turned out to be 2 new ones. Anyway, I had a slow puncture and needed it replacing ASAP, so only place open was Kwit-Shit. So was happy as now I could get to work without worrying. Was told needed Reinforced tyres, blah blah blah and paid Quote
sparky Paul Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 Was at Fords Dealer last week and saw a leaflet with tyres on, so expecting the worst ask for a price.195 / 65 / 15's and said........ Quote

Davetheref Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 Thanks for that. I actually got out early and confirmed the size was correct, and the same as yours. I have just ordered the Fortuna's and found a place locally for Quote

mumof4 Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 I know what heavy load means  ...i just wanted to know if anyone had heard of Full Run HP199 tyres???? :D Quote
seatkid Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 ...i just wanted to know if anyone had heard of Full Run HP199 tyres???? I believe MO4 has... :D probably made by the same people that make Gladiator Gin As for Fortuna, Nokian (do these come with free call credit?) , Hiroshima or Nagasaki tyres....I still find it incredible people are so obsessed with saving a few quid on the most important bit of your car. I'm setting my firewall to "extra thick asbestos" setting and retiring to a safe distance now.... Quote

I'm setting my firewall to "extra thick asbestos" setting and retiring to a safe distance now.... totally agree with you on that point, cost cutting on certain parts that are a major factor in safety is a not a good thing! tyres are the only contact area you have with the road in all road condtions! unless your MO4 where anything in close proximity can be used to increase you contact area! trees, dogs etc :D firewall setting on Hiroshima setting now :D Quote
mumof4 Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 Had to have that one on..no others avail and had to have tyre changed asap as the tread was split...cost means nothing to me compared to the safety of my kids. There was no way i was going to drive around with a tyre on the car which was split and had tread peeling off.I would have had to wait 24 hours for any other tyre. Have posted pic of tyre..what you cant see is the hairline split through the tread.So...should i have left this on??????? This is on a dunlop which has done about 6k miles.Considering the state of it..there is no way i would have another dunlop on the front.Any other tyre and i would of had to wait 24 hours. All i wanted to know was if anyone had heard of them as i havent.Cant even find them on my tyres. Quote
Guest 3.5bullet Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 And the spare was doing what in the 24 hrs while the other tyres were delivered? Quote
mumof4 Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 My spare is flat.As i found out when i looked last night when i found the split. Quote
Guest 3.5bullet Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 and no dout the spare is still flat and your running around with an unknown brand of tyre with the kids in the car! 24hrs? whats 24hrs off the road compared to the safety of your family? considering the for a large pecentage of that time the car would be parked up while you slept it's not that long to wait is it? and exactly who said the tyre needed replaceing right now as it wont last another mile love  lucky for you we had one in stock that will do the job :D :D the tyre fitter? mmm! saw you coming did he?
