2.0 Dohc

[Guest galaxy 2.0 glx]

i have a 1996 2.0 dohc it has 157000 miles

tappet noise on start up for a few seconds.

also when warm its very noisey

oil changed every 6 months (15/40 esso oil)

i have replaced tappets and chain +guides and

tensioners

it seems to go off when towing caravan

making it work hard

i now thinking of lazy oil pump.

just wondered if anyone else come a cross this.

Sounds more like piston slap which tends to disappear under load.

 

That means worn bores.....

 

If its started to burn oil then try a "thicker" grade, if you know what I mean, otherwise just turn the radio up....
