Guest Johnny Be Good Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Hi every one, I'm a newbie here and I am just wondering if the bearing of the Air Conditioning pump can be changed. Please excuse my lack of technical knowledge. I had this kind of rattling noise from the front end so I took it to the garage, the mechanic said that the AC unit was the problem (apparantly the clutch on this is OK). I have tried to find a second hand replacement but I have not been able to locate one.The mechanic suggested taking the AC unit of and changing the bearing. Any help with this problem would be much appreciated. Many Thanks JohnnyBeGood Quote
broom broom Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Hi we had the same problem with the bearing in A/C pump and we couldn't replace the bearing because it was an odd size well anyway what we did was have the bearing knocked out my partner packed it with grease and put it back in it stopped the squealing its not a long term fix ( ours has been quiet for 6 months) but it could give you time to source a second hand A/C compressor without the earache  Quote
Guest Johnny Be Good Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Hi Galaxy heather, Thanks for the reply, where did you try to source the replacement bearing from? Did you find any serial numbers on the bearing etc? If so I have spoken to a bearing specialist in Birmingham who said he may be able to supply a replacement bearing if we have a number for the bearing etc. Did you have any problems getting the bearing out? Any further information regarding this problem would be most welcome Many Thanks JohnnyBeGood Quote
broom broom Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 We tried to source the bearing from an actual bearing company in glasgow he said it was an odd size, but we did find a website that said they could supply one from japan when given the serial number off the bearing in the end my partner just took it into work and knocked it out packed the bearing with grease and put it back in and fingers crossed its been silent ever since, my partner says it came out without too much hassle a bit of elbow grease and a hammer required  Quote
