strouf Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Hi everybody ! I want to install the electric rear quarter windows to my Mk2... I have a friend driving an Alhambra fitted with those, who's willing to swap the parts needed (motors, switches, trims ). The windows themselves cannot be swaped because of different colours. So my question is : How do the motors link to the glass ? Is it easy to undo the bracket,(or whatever ) from the glass without damaging (thus need to buy some parts)and reffit it to another window ? Couldn't find anything in TIS and cannot take a look at the car now,as family are away at the beach FOR THE WEEK !!! ... Quote
VeeDub Nutter Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 The glass is the same for manual or electric windows, it is secured with one philips head screw from the inside of the vehicle. Don't forget, you will also need the plastic trim panels to cover the motors with from the donor car. Quote
strouf Posted August 1, 2006 Author Report Posted August 1, 2006 Oh, it's a relief to know thr're not riveted or anything ! Ages ago ,I drove a Lancia that had those fixed !! Yes, I know about the trims, fortunately both cars have the same interior colour , so the plastick match. Do you know is the wiring is already there? Quote
VeeDub Nutter Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 on mine the wiring was in place, just tied into the loom about a foot below where the hinges/ motors locate on the body. it was a simple case of 'plug n play' for me.for anyone else looking at this mod', the motors & trim panels are the same for the MK1 & MK2. ;) Quote
MrT Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 There are issues with the fitting if the vehicle has the dual air-con as the air pipes run up the back by one of the quarter lights meaning it cannot open. Quote
strouf Posted August 1, 2006 Author Report Posted August 1, 2006 Well, dual climatronic is an expensive option, so was out of reach for me. Must confess that it's necesary for the size of the Galaxy's cabin. Thank you all for your help. Will keep you posted when I make the change. Quote
