Guest ezra Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 hi to allwell after buying this galaxy 3 months ago ,ive had more trouble with it than any other car ive ever ownedwhen i first got it , engine managment light started to flash, oil light started flashing and the bleeping at certain revsI got it in the garage, sorted the engine managment light out, changed the 3 oil sencors and that sorted the oil light problem outIts been running lovely for the last 2 months or so..This morning the wife at to go out early, she started the car up, everything fine, but as she started to pull off the yard the oil light started to flash, i flipped the bonnet and checked it for oil, its fine on the dipstick, i told her to go on her way and keep an eye on oil temp and water temp, as i no her trip was only 1 mile away to the local hospital..She rang me when she got there, the oil light is flashing continously, does anyone have any input that might help me out hereCould it be OIL PUMP on its way out..Or is that the worst sanarioany help please guyscheers in advanceEzraMANSFIELD Just to mention it had full oil change and filter 2 months ago Quote
Guest ezra Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 UPDATEAfter the missus got to the hospital the oil light was still flahingShe turned car off stayed at hospital around 2 hours, and when she restarted the car, oil light had gone out, it was finefor the rest of the dayThis morning started car up oil light on again flashingShe took it a run turned it off re started it, oil lightout againSTRANGE !!Any help from you guys, that i can check would be helpfullthanks in advanceEzra.. seatkid Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 On a 110bhp model that means ....Low oil pressure... could be... 1. Low Oil2. Oil too thin (should be 5-40W,10-40W or 15-40W not 5-30W)3. Worn out engine (does it burn oil?)4. Oil pressure switch dicky5. Oil filter blocked. Does it have a genuine filter? They have a bypass valve. 6. Oil pump failing7. Oil pressure relief valve sticking8. Dicky wiring Driving with a flashing oil light can mean imminent engine destruction (any strange noises?) Quote

I have exactly the same problem - oil light flicking on while driving - no pattern to it at all - checked the oil - done a flash and fresh oil and filter - still the same - where are the sensors as this will be my next thing to try!!??
