Am I the only one that this happens too? When you are going along over 60, and the wipers are off, I get an annoying squeeky noise coming from the wipers against the screen.

I'd vote for the Windstar as a replacement. Had one in the US, and it was great.

The Mazda MPV looks good too. Sliding door I think and probably very reliable.

Which blades do you have fitted? Original ones, flat-type with integral spoiler or the "perforated" ones? (...or aftermarket replacements)?

No squeaks from mine - original Ford MY2000 ones, or Bosch replacements

also might want to try washing the blades with a wet cloth when the car is washed

will stop the blades from going to hard and brittle

Definately keep the blades clean. Mine squeak when the blades haven't been done. It's amazing how much road grime builds up in a very short space of time.

I agree - you need to wash the blades.

Sub-topic (sorry Gav!)

anyone else notice that blades are oriented incorrectly for RHD i.e. passenger leads and driver's blade follows?

No - they vary - over the years there seem to be random changes as to which wiper blade rests on top. Current production has the passenger's wiper on top for RHD cars whereas my 2000MY has driver's side on top. But this has not always been the case.

Also I notice that the current wiper blades are different- a sort of flat top (aero spoiler built-in???)

i bought a twin pack aero spolier pack, just clips on the wiper arms

helps keeps the wiper blades on the screen more at high speeds

works a treat

I had this problem on a MK1 Galaxy but moved the drive wiper up a sline did the trick although they don't rest quite square but you would not notice.

Talking of wipers, who else's rear one misses the window for no appartent reason, either at the top or half way down?? ;)

Check for splits in the rubber. Had this problem with my Mondeo after going though a car wash and the blade was pulled away in places.

My Gal's rear wiper misses the middle top of the screen - it won't flex enough for the curve on the glass. Tried bending it but not resolved the problem yet.

Perhaps I need to eat some more spinnach?

...or just keep hoping that it stays dry, Have hardly used the wipers in 6 months since getting the car!

I wiped the blades (which have the blade held in a pre curved flexible arm, which seems to have be of an integrated spolier design), and your advice is spot on...stopped immediately.

Cheers,

New to this forum, so taking a look at everything.

I always have a problem with a new rear wiper blade missing a part of the screen. To solve it I always remove the metal stiffeners in the new blade and swap them over. This makes the blade curve the other way - concave instead of convex. Wipes the whole window everytime!
