oafcowl Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 A mate of mine had the same problem, failed its mot on emissions, the garage ran a diagnostic and it came up with faulty lamba sensor. Replaced the sensor but the problem was still there, the garage said because the car was being driven with a faulty sensor, too much petrol had entered his catalytic convertor and this was as fault as well, had that changed plus a service and change of plugs and the car passed its mot at a cost of Quote
Guest yzfr1boy Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 cat is working fine because the co output is zero indicating the cat is doing its job ok,i cleaned the old probe today and ran a can of forte fuel system cleaner through the inlet vacum pipes and some in the egr system to clear it out the rest in the tank ran for a bit till normal temprature and tried again and co is zero and the lambda was 1.00 perfect so im going to run it for a few days n try testing it again just to see if it settles ,a mechanic i know says it could be the air flow meter giving truble and he sugested running it with the wiring disconnected and if it goes better relace it,so i tried and it does go much better so i may get the new meter asap  Quote
