Galaxy Quest Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Please can anyone help.I have a 99/T 2.3 Galaxy which has working air con about 10% of the time.It is simple AC with dials and the AC light always comes on when you press the switch but nothing else does. When it works it's fine but thats not very often. If i put a supply to the compressor it works fine but as this bypasses all the safety devices I'm sure its not a good solution.Any help greatfully received. Quote

Galaxy Quest Posted July 31, 2006 Author Report Posted July 31, 2006 Welcome to the forum....have you tried a search as this is quite a common problem at this time of year.None of the posts I have found have the same problems. Most just don't work but I havent found any that are intermittent hence a new thread. Quote
gazza007 Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 As a rule, all systems will cycle on/off depending on the conditions fed by the various sensors.Could be a faulty sensor or a lack of R134aWhen did you last have the system drained/re-filled?I would suggest to keep costs in the first instance would be a DIY pressure test/refil kit.Halfords do the or this place is ok.Car AC supplies Quote
Galaxy Quest Posted July 31, 2006 Author Report Posted July 31, 2006 A local garage checked the pressure and all seemed ok but still didn't always work. When it does work its not a bad temp and it may work for 30mins, then nothing for a week. Can I test the pressure sensor with a multi meter? Would it show open circuit? Quote
gazza007 Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 I am sure some of our more technical members will advise soon. It may be helpful to others if you include a signature of your car details. Quote
El Dingo Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Have a look at... http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...pressure+switch This wasn't my problem in the end (I had a corroded and leaking receiver/dryer), but might be your problem? Quote
Goofygolfer Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 dont know if this is any help, but i had a similar problem with my mondeo turned out the compressor clutch surface was rusty and not making good contact hence intermitent air con. Quote
