gerrypm Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 Just returned from our Holidays at the Gairloch, (Highlands)Very pleased with the perfomance our Galaxy 2.0 GLXI 1996.Most of the roads up there are single track, and having the extra height does help. One day we made our way to a lighthouse about 12 miles from Gairloch and the single track turned into as wide as footpath, and at times with twisty and steep inclines over narrow bridges. The Galaxy really perfomed well.Although we travelled over 1000 miles, we were more than happy with the fuel costs. Not to mention the amount of luggage we carried, even the breadmaker came with us, and the Golf clubs ! ! ! Did anyone else have any good or bad holidays with your Galaxy, or did you fly to pastures new ! ! Quote
Guest MATT jr Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 on all our holidays so far - our galaxies (weve had two) have been faultless. able to cope with everything we sent them through. able to carry everything inside the car, able to adapt to other needs (ie, me sleeping in it once) so on tues, were going spain in it! towing the caravan for good measure! Grumpy Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 Just got back from 4 nights in a campsite outside Bognor. Galaxy was great towing our 1200kg caravan plus all the luggage etc. Cross country (so lots of stopping and accelerating) with air con on our mpg was around 28, didnt seem too bad. Quote
norwichbluenose Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 Just got back from north west Brittany, took the cheap option and went via Speed ferries (Very cheap when compared to western channel crossings) 7 hour drive to the campsite did over 2,000 miles travelling around and got 45.7 on average mpg. Took the whole of our camping gear plus bikes inside the car very impressed with the Gal. Also used tomtom mobile 5 to navigate, what a brillant bit of kit. I would recommend it to any one. Great campsite at half what a comparable site would cost in the uk 20 euros a night (yelloh campsites la foret founasant). Brillant food and the wine wasn't bad too. Andy B Quote

Guest HairyPlateEater Posted August 9, 2006 Report Posted August 9, 2006 Went camping to South Devon for 2 weeks at the end of July and was very impressed with the Gal. drove down to Babbacombe beach one day which is on a 40% hill. The wife was VERY worried we wouldn't get back up! When the time came to go back, a Sierra, Clio and Saab 900 all failed to get back up without unloading all passengers and most of the beach gear out of the boot! The Gal got up effortlessly with me, wife, 4 kids, and a boot full of boogie boards, towels, snorkel gear and folding chairs! Quote
adrianf. Posted August 9, 2006 Report Posted August 9, 2006 Just had 2 weeks in the Isle of Wight. Fab weather.Done 750 mls of which 500 of those were on the island itself (went round quite a bit). The old Gal returned about 38 mpg which considering you hardly get into 5th let alone 6th i thought wasnt too bad9 The climate even worked the whole 2 weeks with no probs.
