bigdaddy Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 Hi guys,,,,,was told by local tyre fitter, while getting wheels balanced (due to a vibration at 60 to 70 mph) that one was buckled, so instead of replacing the one wheel, I replaced the four alloys, and new tyres,,,,,,,,now the vibration is there all the time at 45mph and higher, I have checked brake disc run out and drive shaft for run out, The brake pads had a 1/2mm difference in wear from the top of the pad to the bottom of the pad,,,,,,anybody any ideas of what could be wrong,,,,,,,last resort is to go to ford for a full suspension check!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! p.s the vibration through the steering wheel is so bad that at 45mph and higher you cant hold the wheel correctly Quote
bigdaddy Posted July 28, 2006 Author Report Posted July 28, 2006 Cheers MM,, :D ,,,I was thinking that myself,,any idea which one,,,,, :D Also noticed on hard accelartion the vibration was less,,,,and under heavy braking the vibration got worse!!!!!!!!!!! Masked Marauder Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 They are outers, the tripodic is inner and expensive. I would get a second opinion first. As for them as a supplier, I bought a CV joint from them and they were quick, it came the next day. Quote
bigdaddy Posted July 28, 2006 Author Report Posted July 28, 2006 Do you mean inner as in the gearbox side?? Quote
Masked Marauder Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 Yes, gearbox end of the driveshaft. But at about Quote

iainkirk Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 From recent experience, that will be thhe CV joint breaking up on the nearside. Sounds all too familiar. Quote
bigdaddy Posted August 11, 2006 Author Report Posted August 11, 2006 Ok had the car on the pit at work,,,,,,mechnic checked everything,,,,pulled prodded and pushed,,,,,only thing he found was the OSF link bar to the roll bar had a little play,,,,and one of the shocks was more dirty around the bottom compared to the rest of the shock,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Only thing he could he could think of,,,was to put it on a rolling road to simulate the vibration!!!!!!!! Any of you guys any ideas see pic below,,,,,,,,,,pits are great things :( B) Something else I noticed the vibration is more like the rumble strips at round abouts it feels like going over them continuously,,,,,,,,,,could it be a shock on the way out,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Quote
