norwichbluenose Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 ok took the wife and kids to look at the car, they really liked it, we tried to check everything we could. Wipers worked ok although rear one hasnt got wash facility is this right, aircon has just been fixed so that worked fine although not as powerful as my passat, but i like how you can set different temps for each side of the cabin. Checked oil level and filler cap again all fine. Brakes and discs were fine, rear pads will need changing in a few thousand, but we only do about 5k a year. Wheel locking nut was present. Check passenger footwell for damp, this could be the reason no rear washwipe. It can get expensive if you get water in the electronics Quote
Guest bigal Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Hi, could you please tell me where abouts is the rear washer nozzle supposed to be, i had a quick look but didnt see it. Quote
gregers Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 iirc in the middle of the rear windscreen at the top Quote
mumof4 Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Hmm...mines at the bottom of the rear windscreen..not the top!! Quote
Guest neil_wiles Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 MK1 rear wash is at the top of the screen in the middle on the MK11 the wash is incorporated into the swivel for the wiper arm in the covered area of the wiper. Quote

Andrew T Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 which MK2 diesel, automatic has the best MPG?115 bhp? 42.8 MPG Manual 36.2 MPG Auto (Govt Combined)130 bhp 43.5 MPG Manual No Auto available150 bhp No Figures in my Brochure, it was only listed for the last year or so of production, but no auto option anyway.any other bhp? 90 BHP also available with LX trim (43.5MPG) but no auto. Sharan is available with 140 BHP Euro IV compliant 2.0 Diesel but no auto. do all mk2's have tiptronic? Tiptronic only available on 2.3 Petrol (4 speed) 2.8 VR6 (5Speed) and 115BHP Diesel (5 Speed). which one is better? and has less problems should i say!?!? mk1 or mk2? surely ford managed to rectify the mk1 problems on the mk2?No, apart from frangible Speaker Grills all standard problems seem to be carried over. sanjsanj Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 hmmm....thats kinda confused me.I'm basically looking for a gal/alhambra/sharan which does the most miles to the gallon and is also an auto (obviously its goto be a diesel). At the moment i have a 4 speed gear box....a 5 speed gearbox will bring the rev's down and reduce fuel consumption (which by the way i could have told you when i was five. why did it take them sooo long to figure this out?) I previously asked which MK2 diesel, automatic has the best MPG? The reason i said MK2 was that i thought all MK2's have a 5 speed auto gearbox but according to the info above it doesnt seem so.I also dont see how the auto option reduces the mpg by 7 miles on the 115 bhp option...my computer says, at the end of a tank of fuel, around 44 mpg(normal driving) if i really push it i can get around 55....the manaul option also has around the same figures so therefore 36.2 seems very low. sanjsanj Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 55mpg?????!!what you driving? t reg ghia auto 110bhp hey, do you have 6 gears? Quote

OK, if you exclude Petrols there is no choice on the MK2 in the UK with a Diesel Auto - it Quote
sanjsanj Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 115 bhp? 42.8 MPG Manual 36.2 MPG Auto (Govt Combined)No, apart from frangible Speaker Grills all standard problems seem to be carried over. It's also apparent that early MK2s may be fitted with sub-standard AC condensers. Well, seeing as thats the only auto available, I think i'm gunna have to go for that (want an 01,02 plateish, something a bit more flash and hopefully doesn't have problems, just like my current gal!! :D seriously...i guess i'm quite lucky compared to some of you guys, 2 gals and next to 0 problems)....Andrew: When you say early MK 2's, how early do you mean? possible to give any dates? Everyone: I'm looking to spend 6K on an 01/02 model.....is this realistic? If so, do you know of any good deals out there? also, if anyone has the above model, then could you please confirm/rectify the above figures? all the diesels seem to have the same sized engine but different bhp's...seems a bit weird thanks!
