ok took the wife and kids to look at the car, they really liked it, we tried to check everything we could. Wipers worked ok although rear one hasnt got wash facility is this right, aircon has just been fixed so that worked fine although not as powerful as my passat, but i like how you can set different temps for each side of the cabin. Checked oil level and filler cap again all fine. Brakes and discs were fine, rear pads will need changing in a few thousand, but we only do about 5k a year. Wheel locking nut was present.

 

Check passenger footwell for damp, this could be the reason no rear washwipe. It can get expensive if you get water in the electronics

Hi, could you please tell me where abouts is the rear washer nozzle supposed to be, i had a quick look but didnt see it. :blink:

iirc in the middle of the rear windscreen at the top

Hmm...mines at the bottom of the rear windscreen..not the top!!

MK1 rear wash is at the top of the screen in the middle on the MK11 the wash is incorporated into the swivel for the wiper arm in the covered area of the wiper.

115 bhp? 42.8 MPG Manual 36.2 MPG Auto (Govt Combined)

130 bhp 43.5 MPG Manual No Auto available

150 bhp No Figures in my Brochure, it was only listed for the last year or so of production, but no auto option anyway.

any other bhp? 90 BHP also available with LX trim (43.5MPG) but no auto.

Sharan is available with 140 BHP Euro IV compliant 2.0 Diesel but no auto.

Tiptronic only available on 2.3 Petrol (4 speed) 2.8 VR6 (5Speed) and 115BHP Diesel (5 Speed).

hmmm....thats kinda confused me.

I'm basically looking for a gal/alhambra/sharan which does the most miles to the gallon and is also an auto (obviously its goto be a diesel).

At the moment i have a 4 speed gear box....a 5 speed gearbox will bring the rev's down and reduce fuel consumption (which by the way i could have told you when i was five. why did it take them sooo long to figure this out?)

my computer says, at the end of a tank of fuel, around 44 mpg(normal driving) if i really push it i can get around 55....the manaul option also has around the same figures so therefore 36.2 seems very low.

Well, seeing as thats the only auto available, I think i'm gunna have to go for that (want an 01,02 plateish, something a bit more flash and hopefully doesn't have problems, just like my current gal!! :D seriously...i guess i'm quite lucky compared to some of you guys, 2 gals and next to 0 problems)....

Andrew: When you say early MK 2's, how early do you mean? possible to give any dates?

 

Everyone: I'm looking to spend 6K on an 01/02 model.....is this realistic? If so, do you know of any good deals out there?

 

also, if anyone has the above model, then could you please confirm/rectify the above figures?

 

all the diesels seem to have the same sized engine but different bhp's...seems a bit weird
