Guest funkmiester Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 Hi guys, The near side rear window on my gal aint workin... It doesn't do anything with either of the switches but I can't seem to find the fuse to check it. But then I'm thinking, if it was the fuse, wouldn't all the other windows stop working ? (they all work). the fuse box doesn't tell you anything about windows at all, Unless I'm being blindingly stoopid. Which is likely. -_- Thanks Quote

Pull back the rubber bellows on the cables and see if they are intact. Quote

Pull back the rubber bellows on the cables and see if they are intact. I would second that. The wiring between the door and the body is the first place to look. Our car used the wind the window down but not up. Real pain in the arse, Quote
Guest metalmickey Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 Just had the exact same problem, nsr window wouldn't move up or down but I could hear a faint click (like a relay sound) from inside the door when I pressed the switch up or down. Got the eldest to stab the button as I pulled down on the glass but it wouldn't budge. I checked the wiring in the door but it appeared okay so I stripped the door. Once the door liner was off I could get to the window regulator and the motor was warm to the touch, still nothing to see re wiring and I did a few continuity tests but all was okay. Decided to remove the regulator so that I could have a better look, which was a bit awkward but didn't take too long. Got the regulator out and (rather foolishly) decided to strip it. Got the cover off the armutator and tried to spin it by hand and - whilst it was nice and free - it didn't want to move the regulator mechanism (Note to anyone foolish enough to remove the motor cover, don't wind too far as it will try to force the arnutator outwards which will eventually take it too far out and the brushes will pop out of their holders). Decided next to strip the regulator iteslf and (about an hour later, covered in horrible white grease and cursing over how stupid tensioned wire regulators are) got it all back together. Then I connected it to the wiring loom and tried it while it was still out of the door and it worked, Yahoo! Reinstalled and tried to close the window and it went about half way up and then reversed, did this several times (tried readjusting the drop glass so as to run smoother but didn't do a thing) and then eventually decided that WD40 was the way to go. Few sprays in the glass runners (being careful not to get it all over the main part of the glass) and it works wonderfully. Been working for well over three weeks (in daily use in this weather (my AC has failed)). I hope that yours is the wiring as it is definately easier to fix (and the loom is relativel easy to remove so you can work on it in the shed/garage/kitchen) Good luck Quote
Guest MATT jr Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 aye, most likely the wiring is damaged,,,, enjoy! MJR Quote
