andymet Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 Hi GuysJust coming up for MOT and the number plate lights are not working (MK1 TDI). Checked the bulbs and number 3 fuse, any other likely suspects before I start ripping panels off to check the wiring continuity? Many Thanks Andymet Quote
Guest MATT jr Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 if the bulb and fuse are ok, then it could be the wires in the rubber boot, between the door and the car body. they have a habit of breaking. MJR Quote
andymet Posted July 22, 2006 Author Report Posted July 22, 2006 Thanks Matt spot on. Anyone with a Mk1 could do with checking the wires in the boot on the right side, what I found was horrendous. One wire broken and insulation cracked exposing bare wires on half the othe cables. Soldering iron, link wire and a roll of amalagamating tape sorted it. Once again thanks Matt Quote
