Hi all,

Need to replace discs and pads back & front on my 97 2.3.

Is there anyquirks I need to be aware of or is everything fairly straight forward?

Is it best to open the bleed nipple on the callipers when winding the pistons back in?

Any other tips?

Thanks.

On the rears you need to wind back the piston into the caliper,,,,,on the front it is a just push back affair,,,,,,,,,YES clamp off the flex brake pipe and open the bleed nipple as you do not want to reverse the flow through the ABS and possibly damage a seal or two,,,,,,, ;)

Is that true or an urban myth? ..... with my own car, alfa 156, I can push back the pads+piston without opening the nipple witout causing any failur eof the abs seals.

Bit of both.....no need to open the bleed nipple (and most garages don't), but if you saw the crap and the state of the fluid in the caliper, I'm sure you'd agree you don't really want to push that stuff back into the system, plus an enthusatic pushback does result in weak seals flipping on occasion.

Personally though, I wouldn't clamp the hose....in my opinion this is likely to damage an old hose. You still have to bleed the brakes anyway so just open the nipple and allow the fluid out (into a container) during push back.

Pajero apparently is spanish colloquial for masturbator

Indeed it is, and a colloquialisim has never been so apt ;)

Oh I thought Pajero meant "pile of sh*t" You learn a lot on this site don't you?
