Alhambra Se V Galaxy Ghia

Hi All,

 

Thought the Ghia v Ghia X thread was interesting and thought I would ask about the Alhambra SE v Galaxy Ghia in terms of spec. Mine is a March 2002 SE on the log book but not badged SE. I don't know if its top of range for the SEAT or not. I don't think it is.

 

Think the Galaxy Ghia wins hands down but what are the extras that the Ghia has that the SE doesn't?

 

Here are the bits that my SE has got / not got.

 

No CD player as standard - radio cassette instead

No steering wheel radio controls

No parking sensors

No sunroof

Heated Front Seats

Climate Control - (but not with vents in the roof)

Auto dipping rear view mirror

Front fogs

Sports seats

Compared to that the Ghia gives you;

 

6 pack CD

Parking sensor F& R.

Lots of seats but nothing sporty about them.

No heated front seats (great pity)

Roof Vents and dipping mirror on later models.

Elec mirrors but no folding.

6 window closing, 4 window opening (go figure........or are mine buggered ?)

 

No side rubbing strips on the Bamma ?

I also have a 2002 (Feb)on a 51 plate SE Alhambra and it has the following:

 

radio cassette (scala) and 6 disc atochanger

No steering wheel radio controls

No parking sensors

No sunroof

Heated Front Seats

Climate Control front only

Auto dipping rear view mirror

Front fogs

Head light washers

Sports seats x6

Sports suspension - the main reason getting the Alhambra over the Gal

Swivel front seats

6 electric windows

Key operated all windows open / closed

Cruise control

Computer

Roof rails.

Electric adjustable and folding wing mirrors

Heat front screen

Speed controlled front wipers

2 remote keys

 

I have only seen parking sensors on a couple of Alhambra at aroung 2000 - 2002 before that changed the names of the models.

ermm..i dont know all the specs on my Ghia!!!

 

here are some i know of..

 

parking sensors front and rear (4 front 4 rear)

heated windscreen

been told recently that i have the stalk that controls the stereo

16 inch alloys

came with 6cd multichanger but i upgraded to front loading one

no heated seats

4 electric windows

cruise control

roof rails

heated electric wing mirrors they fold in manually

6 speed

tinted windows

trip computer

global closing

 

 

to be honest..i dont know exactly what else there is if anything!

Interesting stuff - made me realise that I missed this from the spec of mine in my previous post.

 

Head light washers

Sports suspension

Swivel front seats

Speed controlled front wipers

2 remote keys

Privacy glass in rear.

 

Not sure what size the alloys are. The tyres are 215/55 R16 - is the R16 a clue? ;)

My SE ally has one huge extra over all those above......me driving it!!! LOL B) ;)

The mounting is definatelly the same, so is the wiring. You have to get the SEAT control switch as well. Also , the new mirrors have to be sprayed to match body colour.

ours has a centre glove box on the dash, that occansionally scares the $hit out of you when it randomly pops up. "just checking your still awake" i hear it say.

No idea about Ghia vs the rest of the world, but IMO

 

The most important "must have" options on a TDi are....

HEATED SEATS

CRUISE CONTROL

 

The most useless "waste of time and money" options are....

ROTATING SEATS

HEADLAMP WASHERS

ELECTRIC SUNROOF

FLIP UP TABLE TRAYS

HEATED WASHER JETS

 

The nicest to have "if you can afford it" options are.....

WORKING AIR CONDITIONING :blink:

REAL LEATHER STEERING WHEEL

RADIO REMOTE CONTROL

 

The most "sounds useful - but aren't really" options are......

HEATED FRONT WINDOW

 

The "only useful in a blue moon" options are

FRONT FOG LIGHTS

 

And finally the "you might end up regretting you chose this" options

AUTOMATIC GEARBOX

SUPER SLINKY ULTRA LOW PROFILE RUBBER BAND SPORTS WHEELS

 

p.s. I have all of them bar the last two..... ;)

 

p.p.s. For the "why doesn't every car have one by now?" category I nominate

a radio with USB or SD input for MP3 with decent LW/MW reception and GPS ...... ;)

Dont forget parking sensors, its amazing what small gaps i will park in with these ,

would be even better with a decent full lock on the galaxy!

Wow what a debate you could start here!!

 

Agree mostly, but I did find the heated front screen very useful while the aircon wasn't working.

My corsa has a simple, non heated screen - and its crap.

 

Being a diesel it takes ages to heat up, and it has no aircon, causes such a faff when it mists up in the mornings.

My 2003 53 Ghia has the following...

 

Full leather seats throughout.

6CD Multichanger with AM/FM Cassette head unit

Heated front screen

Tiptronic Auto Box

Electric offside rear quarter window opening and closing.

Electric windows all round with Global open/close via remote.

Multifunction leather steering wheel (Audio and cruise controls)

Dual zone climate with vents in roof in rear

Trip computer

Front and rear parking sensors

Heated and electrically adjustable wing mirrors, but not folding.

Heated front seats.

16" Alloys.

Front Fogs.

 

I think that's about the long and the short of it. Interesting how the spec is constantly increasing - We just bought a new model Mondeo, in Zetec trim, which is below Ghia and Titanium, and it has most of the features in the Ghia Gal from just 4 years earlier. Only things not present are the heated seats, leather and the multichanger, although it does have a single slot cd player.
