More Air Con Probs

after the gal has spent a week with a aircon 'specailist' it has come back with still no aircon. guy reconds it could be leaking from the heat box? from behind the dash. has anybody got any ideas where it is and how much to replace?

He is referring to the evaporator. To replace it requires the dash to be removed. I was told it takes a day and a half to replace an evaporator. With the associated labour costs that becomes expensive and the cost of the unit almost incidental. Some have done the job themselves and there is one excellent thread on how to do it with photo's if you feel brave enough and have alternative transport for a few days!!

 

There is loads on here about the evaporator and dash removal, however have a read of the thread on my condenser problem. The SEAT dealer was right when he said that that my leak that could not be found was more than likely to be the condenser than the evaporator.
