Must4rd Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 My 2003 galaxy ghia has the multimedia option. Whilst trying to spur a power cable off this I seem to have shorted something. I am hoping a fuse has blown but for the life of me I cant seem to find which one. I have checked all of the fuses in the box, except the little ones that I cant get out. I have also checked under both seats and cant seem to find any fuses. Someone please help we aqre going on holiday on Saturday and it looks like the kids wont get any videos at this rate. Danny Barratt Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 I have the same problem, whilst changing the video player for a dvd player I have shorted something but after checking all the fuses I can find, nothing. The power supply to the video gives a couple of volts but when you switch the power on via the remote pointing at the headrests it gives 12v, so off that came my dvd, only prob is it no longer gives 12v. In fact it doesn't switch the screens on at all now. HHHELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPP please. ;) Quote

Danny Barratt Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 I Must be blind as I have looked under there after looking at another post but can't find any fuses, I assumed that this was due to mine being a 2002 and the post was a 99. Please help me if you can advise any further. I have looked under the seat and can only see connecters. I have had the control unit apart and everything I can find but still nothingThanks ( I have a 2002 TDI Ghia Auto) Quote
Marky Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 From what I can see this is the only other fuse in the circuit for the rear entertainment system...i take it you have checked the fuse in the main board? Either fuse 10 or fuse 32 depending on the year.... Quote
Danny Barratt Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 Hi, I have checked all the fuses in level 1 of the fuse box, just had another look under the drivers seat and can only see 3 connecters but no fuse, should there be one here that has maybe been misaligned somewhere under the floor trim near there. This is doin my head in, was outside last night torch and all trying to find the prob. Thanks for the replydannyJust been to my local ford garage, they were clueless, never even seen a multimedia system as they are "usually to expensive as an option". What?Oh well back to the drawing board Quote
Marky Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 Sorry Danny...just going off the wiring diagram on the TIS....never actually looked for/seen it. Just looking at the TIS again and it contradicts itself and lists this fuse as being 'under centre console' but I would check the Aux power socket first, if you've got power there then the feed should be Ok to the player as it spurs off before the power socket...sorry can't be of more help.. Quote
Danny Barratt Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 Hi The aux power sockets centre and back are both o.k but the power to the unit is at 1.5v and should change to 12v when you switch the screens/multimedia unit on. The power stays at 1.5v. I have spoke to fords tech helpline and they only know about two fuses at level 1 but I have checked them, they then said ring Visteon. I phoned visteon on the only number I could get an answer on and they said they were the deign centre and could only speak to ford staff not customers. Tried their customers service number (european) and no answer.AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHBack to the drawing board. When you mention the fuse under the centre console do you mean by the handbrake or under the dash. Thanks for taking the time to look at TIS.Thanks Danny Quote
Marky Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 Sorry Danny... it just says under centre console which I presume would mean the handbrake/entertainment console...looking at the wiring diagram the main power to the entertainment module comes from fuse10 or fuse 32 (depending on year) but this then goes to the aux power point which is working...???...remember that the head unit sends a voltage to the entertainment module (from pin 7 in the power plug of the head unit) without this the screens/dvd will not power up...are you certain this voltage is coming from the head?? Danny Barratt Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 Thanks will check pin 7 as it is not the Ford head unit but a JVC one using the adaptor harness, but has worked o.k up until now. Thanks though. If I find it I will post the answer. Thanks for the answers Quote
