Guest chrisH Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 Just a bit of info that might come in handy. I had the common problem of lack of power whilst going uphill, gutless engine on motorway, overtaking next to impossible etc. VAGCOM reported :00575 Manifold Intake PressureControl Difference : Intermittent17-10&17-00 Checked MAF -Seemed okReplaced all Vacuum tubing ( well most of it anyway)Cleaned Intake ManifoldGave EGR a spray with Carb cleaner (just in case it was seized)Cleaned TMAPClean Boost Control Solenoid with Carb cleaner After 2 weekends still no joy. I didnt want to go buying parts until i knew exactly what the problem was so gave up and decided to look at the hole in the exhaust,Patched it up with exhaust bandage, wnet for a spin to harden it and hey presto full power again. After doing some searches on other VW TDI sites it turns out the a leaking exhaust can also cause the 'gutless' engine effect. Hope this helps all you TDI'ers out there... I'm one happy chap again. Quote
sanjsanj Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 where abouts is this 'hole'? Is it possible for you to get a piccy? thanks alot! Quote
Guest chrisH Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 Sorry, Where the hole is i couldn't get a picture but i'll try to explain. On the section of exhaust that holds the CAT, where it joins to the next bit of pipe, the hole is right on top, between the underbody of the vehicle and the exhaust. The only way i noticed it was because of the soot build up on the body. The sound wasn't that different to normal.I was able to get my little finger in the hole, so a fair size. I dont know if the hole had appeared further down the exhaust whether that would have the same effect but i think because it was still fairly close to the engine, the sensors were able to detect that change. I'll give it a week, with a few motorway runs and see if its ok.If not, then back to the drawing board. Quote
