The rubber at the bottom right hand corner of my rear screen keeps coming out and this makes the window bounce and bang every time i close the tailgate, i have been told the best option is to get some silicone to stick the rubber back and therefore hold the window in place.

I have never used silicone before so does anyone know what or where i should by it? and have any tips on using or applying it please?

thanks,

If the glass is moving then it needs re-sticking by a screen fitter as the rubber is only a trim, it does not actually hold the screen in.

The rear screen will have to be removed to do this as a special silicon adheasive is used. Get a price first it could cost less for your glass insurace excess!

The sealant/adhesive used to bond screens is a polyurethane adhesive, not silicone!

Sold by various manufacturers its commonly called (you guessed it) Screen Bond.

You really should use the correct adhesive as a bonded screen actually contributes to the strength and rigidity of the car. Less so on a rear window than a front screen but you should still use the correct stuff.

Its also more viscous than silicone so it is easier to maintain the correct position of the screen whilst waiting for it to cure.

Thanks for your answers guys

It was actually the bloke on the front desk at Fords that went off and asked one of their mechanics to look at it, he came back and suggested silicone, so i thought 'great' i guess that it will stick one side of the rubber to the glass and the other to the car itself. Now i'm not so sure about doing it myself as i seem to have been misinformed by Fords.

Any ideas where i should take it to get it done properly then? and roughly what would i expect to pay?
